Qantas CEO made headlines last week when he said that the airline would require Covid-19 vaccination proof once they start to ramp up international flights in the second half of 2021.

The IATA CEO disagreed with Alan Joyce’s view, but international vaccination certificates are already required in many countries, depending on where you are flying from.

IHG Hotels and IHG Rewards Club affiliated credit cards issue free night certificates, usually valid for 12 months after, in a handful of markets, the most important being the United States.

IHG has extended some expiring certificates by six months, and all certificates issued in 2020 have 18 months validity. This doesn’t help a lot, considering how long it takes until this Covid-19 is firmly past us.

Conrad Cartagena No More & Won’t Reopen

Conrad Cartagena, a hotel on Colombia’s northern coast, opened to great fanfare in 2018 only to exit the Hilton system last month.

The hotel had already been closed for some time due to Covid-19 travel restrictions and associated slump in demand. I have now confirmed from local sources here in Cartagena that the hotel won’t reopen as Conrad.

Accor ALL France Double Points December 15 – January 31, 2021

Accor Hotels launched an offer for double points in Europe (read more here) that excluded France (likely due to lockdown), but now there is another offer out.

Accor Live Limitless (ALL) members can earn double points for stays in France between December 15 – January 31, 2021, if stays are booked after registering for this offer and by January 10.

U.S. DOT Issues Final Rule On Service Animals

U.S. Depart of Transportation (US DOT) today issued a ruling that affects those traveling with Emotional Support and Service Animals.

DOT now defines a service animal as a dog, no more cats or miniature horses, and airlines no longer need to accept emotional support animals (no longer considered service animals).

Emirates Free One Or Two Nights In Dubai Offer December 6 – February 28, 2021

Emirates has sent out mass emails today about its offer for one (economy) or two free nights (business & first) at the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel in Dubai for travel by February 28, 2021.

This offer first sounds quite good, but it doesn’t match what Qatar Airways and Etihad have previously offered if you dig a bit deeper. You must make your eligible booking under this offer by December 23.

Some like it hot while others prefer a bit cooler in-room temperature. With preferences at extremes or anywhere in-between, shouldn’t guests be able to control the temperature of their room within a reasonable range?

A few Sundays ago, I decided to check out a Hilton hotel in Bogota closer to the airport where I had not stayed previously and I believe is a very new property.

American Airlines has now activated the promotion for a small amount of free AAdvantage miles and double reward miles offer for early 2021. Report your “gifts” in the comments section!

You need to log into your My Promotions on AA’s website to see what your offer is. The double miles for premium revenue travel on January 1 – February 28, 2021, should be open for all.
